Our mission: Connecting young adults who aspire to teach with students who need to learn.

iEducate employs college and high school students as tutors to work as co-teachers alongside elementary teachers in order to enhance the learning of underserved students. The tutor provides both whole-class support as well as targeted group instruction to students in small groups. Our vision is to develop a cost-effective & sustainable co-teaching model for school districts to engage youth from the surrounding community as tutors in order to accelerate the learning of underserved students while also strengthening our future teacher workforce.

Job Description

Houston, Texas-based position. Full-Time Exempt.

Salary ranging from $50,000 - $60,000.

As a Manager, Tutor Development You will be overseeing tutor and Partner Teacher program implementation at the classroom level and leading the leadership development of tutors. You will also partner closely with iEducate’s Senior Management team to ensure school wide program implementation is being done with fidelity.


Drive the leadership development of a cohort of tutors. (About 100 part-time tutors, or 30 FTE employees)

  • Create and facilitate group learning experiences that introduce and reinforce organizational mission, vision, values, policies and procedures
  • Hold tutors accountable for adherence to organizational values, policies and practices
  • Support tutors in understanding the community in which they work and building a positive collaborative relationship with their assigned Partner Teacher and/or Coordinator
  • Track, monitor and analyze multiple data sets (including but not limited to observation data, student learning data etc.) and use data to inform programmatic decision making
  • Create and facilitate group and 1:1 learning experiences for tutors that develop the mindsets, knowledge and skills required to be highly effective tutors and help put tutors on a path to becoming highly effective classroom teachers
  • Communicate clearly, consistently and proactively with tutors, team members, partner teachers and other key stakeholders with the utmost professionalism

School Integration, team collaboration and engagement

  • Collaborate with tutor’s Partner Teacher to ensure tutor’s work is in alignment with school and classroom vision, values, priorities and goals and that the tutor is receiving necessary support and feedback from their Partner Teacher
  • Communicate school level context and information to Senior Manager, School Partnerships to support school-wide program implementation work and ongoing development of tutors both inside and outside your cohort
  • Prepare for and lead weekly check-ins with Senior Manager, School Partnerships around progress towards your cohort’s vision/goals, information around tutor performance, concerns, next steps and your ongoing development.
  • Attend weekly Program meetings and other whole organization meetings where you will reflect on organization-wide progress to vision/goal and work collaboratively to move the vision for tutor development forward

Other duties as assigned; may vary depending on time of year and organizational needs, but could include:

  • Assisting with tutor selection including, but not limited to, scheduling and interviewing candidates and writing evaluations to determine if they should be hired
  • Assisting operations team in managing tutors into compliance related requirements
  • Assist recruiting team in hosting information sessions, attending career fairs, coordinating on-campus booths, etc.

Prior Experience

  • At least 2 years of full time work experience (At least 2 years experience as a classroom teacher preferred)
  • Experience leading other adults in an education setting towards proven results
  • Experience accurately compiling, analyzing and utilizing data to inform decision making

Work Demands

  • Ability to observe tutors’ instruction, requiring travel to school sites during business hours. Independents travel to multiple school sites throughout the day that may be significant distances from one another.
  • Occasional weekends and evening work required
  • A valid driver’s license and valid automobile liability insurance
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Able to lift 20 lbs
